What? One week of school left...!?

It is hard to believe that school is almost over...

It is even harder to believe that I am almost half-way done with college. Let us take a moment to commemorate this achievement....

.
.
.
.
 ok.

Thank you for celebrating with me.

BUT, before this happens...I have a ton to do.

The last week is when you find out who you are and what you are going to make of your semester. It is one of those "pushing through the pain" weeks. It is like looking through a cracked in the wall and seeing the other side, but you cannot get through until you climb over the wall.

Time to climb the wall.

May not be blogging much the next week or so...I will have to use all my writing time writing papers. for grades. ugh...

Be back soon. You can always check my Twitter if you miss me and want to know about my life (probably won't stop doing that during the week. ;)

Twitter Takeover

Is it just me, or does Twitter seem to be taking over the airwaves the last few days??

From celebs, to tv personalities, average joe's, and everyone in between. Twitter seems to be growing steam and shows no sign of slowing down.

I have been twittering (not sure if that can be a verb...) for almost a year now. I felt like I was behind when I started, but now it seems that everyone is playing the catch-up game and jumping on.

Twitter is like crack (I have never done crack...but for all relative purposes, you know what I mean). The more time you spend on twitter, the more you want to tweet more, and more, and more. I think I have sent about 4 messages while I am writing this post.

For lent, I gave up posting tweets on Twitter. I had become somewhat (very) obsessed with my online persona. That is the allure of the online world; you can be anyone you want to be. I became consumed more with wanting people to know me than knowing myself in the real world.

so

The Twitter/ Facebook fast began. The first week or so was pretty difficult. Every time anything happened, I wanted to share it with the world. But, as time went on, things got better. God showed me so much about myself during my fast. I will share more about it in the future.

I want to be myself online and offline.

This is something I have struggled with on the blog as well. It is easy to say something profound, insightful, or provactive; it is a different story to live it.

That is where the rubber meets the road.

I want my what I say and what I do to match. I want to share my life with other, but I want to share MY LIFE, not the life I wish I had.

It is a daily choice I must make to not fake it. Just like faking a prayer or saying some scripted "christanease" saying just because it was 'fitting'. I want God to be pleased with my life. I want Him to shine through...and we both cannot be the star at the same time.

That's it for now. More to come soon...

This is only a test. . .

I am trying out my mobile Blogger from my phone. This could be fun!

Pushing Through the Pain

I love riding my bike. I am not that amazing...but I am really getting into it.

There is always a point where I get tired and want to stop. It is always way before I want to actually stop. For me, it is always right around mile 10. It is the point when I am running out of initial adrenaline, and waiting for endorphins to kick in.

If I stop then, I don't ever get to the good part. It is only when I push through the pain that I can experience the joy of the later miles. The times after the 10th mile are the best. When I push through the pain, I get to experience the great rides.

The best times are always after the pain.

Sometimes life can be the same. We have a choice when we experience pain; we can run away, or we can face it and push through.

There are many times in life when the joy comes after the pain.

Maybe you just went through something tough. Tough classes, relationship struggles, personal problems, or maybe something just outside your control.

If you have not gone through something lately, you will soon.

But be encouraged, because the joys comes after the pain.

Push through the pain. It is worth it.

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
        -James 1:2-4

Going through crap??

This post by Steven Furtick is great.

Deep Crap= Green Grass.

Just a good reminder that trials are not the absence of God, but rather to develop perseverance and faith.

Is Twitter too much for you...?

There are some people in the world that do not like Twitter. I know, shocking.

For all of you who think Twitter is too much, there is now hope thanks to the newest nano-blogging technology.

It is called Flutter. You can check out the video here.

Good Friday

I saw the trailer for Mars Hill Church's service the other day. You can check it out here for yourself

I think we forget sometimes just how gruesome and brutal Christ's death on the cross was; I know I do.

We dress Jesus up in nice robes, straighten his hair, and shine up his shoes, but I am not sure how accurate that depiction is. I am pretty sure that is not at all how he looked, especially on Good Friday.

This video was just a good reminder of God's love; He endured murder on the cross so we did not have too. He gave His life, so we could be filled with life in Him.

That is good news.

what your your thoughts??

Test

That was the live blogging tool I just set up.

Thanks to Tony Morgan for the help!

- I am not exactly sure how I am going to use it, but I think it could be a fun tool...

Google your Tweet

Looks like the little Twitter Bird could be cashing in big with the internet giant Google.

It seems that Google is continuing their takeover of the internet cloud by looking to purchase Twitter for... $250. Million.

Yep. 250 million big ones for the status updating mini blogging service.

I think it is a good move; anything that Google has taken has become even better. They took over my feedburner account a few months ago, and it works better than ever. Google seems to have a pretty good understanding of what people need and want with their online sites.

You can check out the article here.

I do not think it is official, but maybe in the next few weeks we will see the switch

Randomness

It has been a long time since I have done a random post...I think it is long overdue.

so. ready or not, here it comes. As sure as a train coming round the bend or a a hip-hop star in news for doing something stupid, this is your random thought post for the day.

- God is stretching me in so many areas. There are pages worth of posts I could write about it, maybe I will one day. But for now, I am not quite ready to share about it. I do not want to write till it is time to unveil.

- I am really behind in my workouts for biking. I have been sick since February and I cannot seem to shake this crud in my chest. I have taken prescriptions, claratin, Sudafed, ect. but it seems to have settled in for a while. Hopefully I can get rid of it soon...

because

-The weather has been BEAUTIFUL lately (except when it rains). I am loving the warm sun and the cool breeze.

- I am sooooo excited about BSU next year. I got to spend the last few days with the new council and it was amazing. There is such depth and wisdom; it is going to to be an awesome year. I think BSU next year may be the best ever.

- I like v-neck shirts. I need some color ones for summer. Anyone know where I can get some comfortable ones for cheap?? I would like one of every color...

- I am really getting into photography. I really want a DSLR camera. Anyone know where I can find a good deal on one?? anyone selling?

- I am loving my new Line 6 M13. It has been the best thing I have purchased for my guitar setup. If you are looking for a versitle box with tons of extra features, then I would suggest checking it out. Just being able to have multiple delays has been worth it. Someone told me the other day that I played like The Edge; that was a great compliment.

- Pandora radio has changed my life. I love hearing new music, and with Pandora I can listen to it for free, and make playlists of what I like.

- I want an iPhone. I hate Windows Mobile.
I have given it a chance. It stinks... sorry.

- Sometimes I want a pair of man capris so I can fit in with Florida people...is that wrong?

- I have to stop drinking coffee at night; it is keeping me up. It does not always do it, but lately I have been very affected by caffine.

wow. That was long, and I have not even started. I feel an extension post coming soon.

Hope that was less painful than you expected.

REMEMBER

Make sure to leave comments on the post about the cow urine soft drink if you want to get a special post all for yourslef. Just scroll down and check it out.

I scored pretty high on this bad boy

Now here is a test that I feel pretty confident about.

I saw Jon Acuff last month at an event in Atlanta called "Off the Blogs" with Carlos Whitaker and Anne Jackson.

It was on of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. All the stuff that gets in the way was removed; all the titles and categories that we love to put on people and church did not matter that night.

Emergent, emerging, relevant, real, contemporary, attraction, blah, tradition; all of the politics were removed, and truth was shared.

They talked about giving others the gift of going second by sharing their experiences first. They showed their love and concern for a room full of people they did not know by sharing personal stories about their struggles and the life-changing power that only Jesus Christ brings.

It was as if a room full of people took off the mask of Christianity and actually did something that was real and honest. I will never forget that night.

They are all such amazing and sincere people; you should check out their websites.

- I hope you enjoyed the worship leader test as well. I will not tell you my score...but it was pretty high.

If only this was an April Fool's Joke

I like food. I like interesting flavors of things and I will try most things that look halfway decent.

but

I am not so sure that I am going to try India's latest "soft drink" (if you can call it that...)

See for yourself here

Now, I know that you can pour Coke on your car battery to remove corrosion, and putting that in your body seems silly. But I just do not know how I feel about putting something inside me that was once waste from a cow (I would not be any more willing if it was from a person...just to clarify that one :)

When I was in High School I had a friend who drank some of his own pee for around $10. It was funny, and extremely disgusting. I laughed, I cried, and everyone around almost threw up...

I know that this stuff is not quite like that, but I still would have a hard time drinking a can of cow pee cola.

Maybe they just need a catchy name.

Catchy names and slogans make everything better.

Ok, here is a fun game- Leave a comment with the best name/ slogan for the cow urine drink, and I will feature your name/ slogan when I return to Twitter and link to your blog (or whatever you have). It will be my triumphant (somewhat..) entry back into Twitter, and you can decided what my first Tweet in over a month will be

I am expecting great things from you all. Hit up the comments and get the creative juices (see, here we go already...) flowing.
