This is amazing!

The thing sitting in her lap is called a momone. It is a device that works sort of like a midi controller, allowing you to manipulate and play sounds that are programmed through your computer.

It is amazing that she is doing all of this. Live.

I am always in impressed by artists who are not afraid to be original and do something unique with their music (and clothing).

Foreknowledge of God

Last night at BSU, Jody read 1 Peter 1:2 which says, "who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying of the spirit for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by His blood"

There are a few different camps of ideas when it comes to the foreknowledge of God (it is also a big point of argument on this campus... which drives me a little crazy).

Jody made a great remark on this, and gave some great perspective that I think everyone can benefit from.

We can get so caught up in discussing (arguing) about subjects like the foreknowledge of God that we are forgetting the whole point.

The point of it all is REDEMPTION

That is what it all comes back to, God wants to redeem us and bring us into relationship with Him.

When you think about arguing about foreknowledge, worship styles, and how many points Calvin should have had in the light of REDEMPTION, it seems a little silly.

Because at the end of the day, people are dying and entering into eternity without Christ while we sit in our Christian circles and argue till we are blue in the face. I think we all need a perspective change.

If you go NGU, you should really check out BSU on Thursday nights at 7pm in Turner Chapel. I think it going to be a great year. I am already being stretched in so many ways.

Stuff, stuff...stuff

Well. First week has come and gone and I have a feeling that I am going to love this semester. I have 19 hours, BSU stuff, and lots of music to play. I have a ton of projects to do and I can't wait. Kami and I were able to go to Elevation Church on Sunday night for their opening weekend of the Mathews campus. It was one of the best expeiences I have been too. There is no chruch with a better volunteer staff. They are seriously one of a kind. God is bessing them in such a huge way. Band practice tonight. I promise a more thoughtful post next time. . .:). This thing is amazing

It is called the Tone Matrix.

If you are a musician, or a mathematician, or just someone who likes to push buttons and make things happen. You need to check this out!

It uses some kind of algorithm with wave pattens as they hit the tiles and reflect off each other.

You can do some pretty impressive stuff with this little guy.

They are here!

A few months ago, Kami ordered me an early christmas/birthday/amazing present.

Tickets came today for Catalyst.
To say that I am excited is an understatement indeed. I am beyond excited. It was a total surprise that she was doing it, and I never would have asked her for this, which is why it is so amazing.

It has been an amazing day already!

Now I just have to wait till October 7....

Freshman move in (and me...again)

Today, all the Freshmen are moving in! I am excited about that

What I was not excite about was to find out that I was moving as well....

I was helping Jody hand out welcome packets to the new freshman, and I got a call saying that someone else was supposed to be living in my room. I went back to my room, only to find that they were correct...and I had been giving the wrong keys Monday when I came. SO, I have been spending the last couple hours moving all my stuff from one side of the duplex to the other. Same room, other side of the house. I thought I was suppose to be here in the first place...(and I was, just checked...).

So here I am in my "new" room. The day is young, so who knows what else could happen...

Looks like today turned into Freshman/ Junior move-in day...

Work, work...work

This has been such a busy week!

I love being back at school, but I will (almost) be glad when class gets underway. (did I just say that...??).

I am just ready to get back into the swing of things and get things underway.

 I am pumped about:
-BSU. Thursday nights are going to rock. Come see for yourself :)
-School- I can't wait for classes. I think it is going to be a great semester!
-Biking- I have not been able to ride since last week when I wrecked...I can't wait to get back on the bike
-Fall- I am getting tired of this heat, it will be so nice when cool air starts moving in.

Ok, time for more work.... :).

I'm back!

Back at school indeed

And I am just so glad that the weather decided not to back down at all....but. It was still no where near as hot as the very first time I moved my belonging to Unit D-4. I am pretty confident it was well over 100 degrees that August day of '07, so I can't complain (much).

I am so excited to be back. I had a wonderful summer, but I am glad to be back in SC.

It will be a rather busy first few weeks, but I think it will be just wonderful.

You know it is not a bad start to your school year when you spend part of the evening tracking guitar stuff :). Yay for no one around me on campus right now! 60 watts of Fender Super 60 tone needed to break the SC heat tonight. Can't wait till Sunday to lead worship for the Freshman Worship Service. It is going to be rockin!

Ok, time for bed....

Making the switch...again

I know. I said that wordpress was going to be my domain a long time ago, but I came back to Blogger.

I am really thinking about transferring back to Wordpress, because of a fun posting site called posterous. It will update my wordpress blog and my twitter, and other sites all from my email (and I like that!).

Check out my wordpress blog and let me know what you think.

Artist's Mandate

This is the premise of the book I am reading called 200 Pomegranates and an Audience of One by Shawn Wood. This is in the first few pages and it is the main idea throughout the book. I could not even read any farther until I examined myself in this list of Mandates of an Artist.

1. Get GREAT at something
2. Do something with that talent
3. Invest yourself in things that will last and others will benefit from
4. Work for an audience of one, because sometimes our best work is only seen by God
5. Finish what you start.

Shawn is not just talking about people who paint or make music; he is talking about everyone. Moms who raise children, auto mechanics, pastors of churches, and everyone in-between.

As I read these points, and thought about my own life, there seemed to be some inconstancies.

For example
- I tend to be a jack-of-all-trades. I like to be good at basically everything, but where a I great? What is it about my life where God's greatness shines through me? What steps do I need to take to be great?
     - Being great requires much more work than being average. Anyone can be average with a little work. I have become an average pool player in the last two day...but I am not great. Greatness takes drive. Greatness does not come easy.

- I also tend to start tons of projects (pictures, songs, cleaning..., drawings, books) but rarely finish one before I start something else. I am the king of half-baked projects that never see the light of day. I am good starter, but not always a good finisher.

- What am(are) I(you) doing with the talents God has granted me(you) with??

We are all artists. What are you creating?

"It is better to create than to live! Creating is the essence of life." -Julius Caesar

Vacation Update

I am sitting here in the living room of the cabin. I think I could live here...yep. I could indeed. I only wish I had my guitar so I could sit on the porch and play.

Today it. rained. Just like 21 of the days in July. But, the sun did come out this afternoon and it is looking good for tomorrow.

We are headed to a place called Dark Mountain to mountain bike. Should. Be. Awesome. I am stoked!!!!!!

God is rocking my world with some different ideas right now. I can't wait to share them with you when I get them all sorted out in my head...it may take a while, but they will come out soon. (I hope).

I will try to get some pics up soon. Check back!!!!
