I am America

Kami and I went home for the weekend, and while we were home they had early voting.
We are not going to be in TN on the actual day of the primary election, and it was to late to send in a absentee ballot, so I did not think that I was going to be able to vote in the primary. Friday morning my mom told me that we could vote early that day.......and we did
It was a very interesting experience; I believe that we lowered the average age in the civic center by about 50 years. There was not one else even close to our age , or even our parent's age there. But that did not stop us from the task at hand, voting.
After we left the voting facility, Kami and I decided that we were now officially Americans.
All joking aside, it was something that was very important for me to do. I think that this is going to be a very important election, and I wanted to be able to put in my 2 cents.

The Heart of worship( and everything else!)

Before playing at BSU last week, Kami and I were standing outside the chapel getting ready to go up and play. She looked at me and gave me a letter. There was a note inside that said this
Psalm 119:175, "let me live that I may praise you."
The End.
As I read that note, I was reminded what leading worship, and my life, was really all about. It is about praising God, and letting that praise resound to everyone around me. I am here to praise. Chris Tomlin says in one of his songs that 'you and I were made to worship.' That is it, the end, nothing more, just praise for God. If were are living to praise God in all we do, everything else will fall in line.
It was so great to be reminded of that before leading worship. It is such a freeing feeling to know that it is not about me, my singing, playing, or my abilities; it is about living to praise God. It is something that I must remind myself about every day; it is not about me!
That night at BSU was amazing! It was not because there were no mistakes, mess ups, or sound problems( because there were all of those) It was amazing because it was about God, and that was shown in the audience as they lifted their hands and their hearts. Worship is about giving it all back God.
It was so great to be reminded about what worship really is, and it came in one verse, Psalm 119:175, "Let me live that I may praise you."
The end!

I like Mike

Yesterday, Mike Huckabee came to NGU. He has been going to all of the schools in the Greenville area this last week since the SC primary is on Saturday. I was very impressed with what he had to say. He seems very genuine and made some very good points. He also shared his testimony with the audience that packed out the cafeteria( even CNN was in Tigerville!)
I think he is a very good candidate, and he has my vote so far in this election

(Although, there was one disappointing  thing. He did not bring Chuck Norris with him! Chuck was present tonight though at Clemson.)
Besides that, I was very impressed with Huckabee

this week

It is the 1st full week of class this week. I have lots of reading to do in all my classes(which is something that I have not done in a month...) This a big week for me. This Sunday will be my first Sunday to be in charge of all of the music for the worship service at Tigerville. I am very excited about what God is going to do in and through me there. Fusion is on Thursday night. Last week went very well; it was so great to have people that I did not even know come up and tell me what a good worship time it was. Please be in prayer for this week as we prepare for fusion.

It just hit me

SO, my favorite chapter right now in the bible is Psalm 51. In this chapter, David asks God to give him a clean heart and to renew to him the JOY of his salvation. After this, David says that now he can preach the word, reach out, worship God, and sing His praises.

I have read this chapter many many times; it has kind of become my theme chapter for leading worship. I must first, before anything else, make sure that my joy is in my salvation and nothing else. There are many good things, but if my joy is not in my salvation, then my joy is not complete. But I was reading it last night in preparing for tonight, and I came across a verse that I had read but had not stuck out before. It was verse 15, and it said "O Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare your praise." I just hit me last night; I just have to let God speak through me. I do not have top worry about being the best or smarter than anyone else, I just need to wait for the Lord to open my lips and speak through me. God is doing so many great things in my life right now, and I cannot take credit for any of it at all. There is no doubt that all of this is from God. He is opening my lips for me to declare His praises!

A new opportunity

So, I was very excited about this semester. I just knew that God was going to use me in a new way. I have been leading worship at Tigerville baptist for a few months, which has been such a great place for me to minister. Yesterday, I was talking to my suite mate, when he mentioned that they were needing someone to lead worship for the BSU Fusion meeting on thursday nights on Campus. To make a long story short, they ended up asking me to be the music chair on the BSU council, and to be in charge of music for Fusion!

I am still kind of in shock; I knew that God was going to use me, I just did not know that it was going to be this fast.

The 1st Fusion of the new year is tomorrow, Jan. 10th. We had practice tonight, which went really well. I hope that we are ready for tomorrow night. Pray for me and the rest of the band as we lead worship tomorrow. I am trusting and expecting God to do great things!

Back to college in the new year

Well, it is that time once again.......college is back in session starting Wednesday. I just finished moving all of my stuff in, and I am so ready for a nice long nap. I had a great time at home, but I was ready to come back.
I am very excited to see what God is going to do in my life this year. I am expecting God to really use me this year. I am going into it expecting Him to move.

I will keep everyone posted on events and ministry opportunities as they arise!
